Danny R.Young started his roofing company in 1970 with a pickup truck and a ladder. He found customers by driving around looking for buildings he would like to roof, stopping in to meet the owner, and explaining what his services could provide.
Today, Quality Roofing Systems, Inc. has completed 8,000 roofing projects and employs 35-75 people, depending on the time of year. Danny long ago traded in his single pickup and ladder for a 30,000 square foot warehouse and a fleet of 40 vehicles on four acres in West Haven, Connecticut. Our steady growth has placed our company in the largest 10 percent of roofing contractors in the Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.
You Always Deal With A Principal
But despite steady growth and success, Quality Roofing is still very much a family owned and family run. Danny’s son, Mike, is vice president. Mike’s aunt is the controller. Mike’s brother, Matthew, runs the sheet metal business. Another brother, Daniel, runs the company’s Vermont branch. And the youngest brother, Tyler, is an estimator. The company structure eliminates management layers
so you always deal with a company principal. That means faster decisions and more reliability.

The Young family has enabled the Connecticut-based company to emerge as a recognized leader in design, construction, and installation of technically superior roofing systems and architectural sheet metal applications. “When people need roofing they want it done now,” says Vice President Mike Young. “Our family owned and run business allows us to get right on the work with accuracy and expertise. When your job has to be estimated, I’m there. If you decide to contract with us, I will deliver the contract -- a contract I wrote. When it’s time to begin the work, I’m operating the crane. During the work, I am frequently there to manage the job foreman. With us, you always deal with the top of our organization.”
